This person was the mother of my children, a troubled soul that no one could see was struggling, as suicide has always left others questioning - what if? That pain is what suicide leaves behind, and never leaves the people who cared.
Why?
Why did you go and leave us behind?
Did you think just by leaving you would slip out of our minds?
Was it something we did or was it something we said,
are the ever-present questions tossed around in my head.
Why did you go and leave us behind?
could we have done something differently,
perhaps stopped your suicide,
we could have spoken, were you just blind?
to contemplate never ever leaving us behind.
Why did you go and leave us behind?
we could have worked it through, we'd all have been kind.
But you did go, you did leave us behind,
your pain has left you, but it is all that left behind,
This pain won't go,
this pain is here to stay,
yes, you were brave but selfish in a way.
Because you left us, because you're no longer here,
guilt is a feeling that just won't disappear.
